Default Aggregate I/O and Built-In Mics

Hey people,

I heard that Aggregate I/O enables users to use all the inputs available to the system.

Does that also mean Built-In Mics in MacBooks?

On my macbook pro, using aggregate io and the built in audio I can select built in mic as an input on a channel

Close, but not quite. Not all interfaces can be used as aggregate.

Yes. If you really want to use the built in macbook mic, you can, as long as you have it setup in the aggregate I/O and you are using the aggregate engine.

I use the built in mic all the time on my MacBook Pro now. I use it for laying down scratch vocals or whatever else. It's amazing what you can get done sitting in your car, waiting for someone to show up for an appointment or whatever other downtime comes around. This no interface thing has really opened things up.

Using the built in mic really opens things up for songwriting and scratchpadding ideas. You'll love it. I know I do.

can someone please tell me how to do this. I know what an aggregate device is, and I know Pro Tools creates on that is visible in OS X Audio Midi Setup.
Question is, how can I tell PT to get the input of a track from my built in mac?

been using DAW for years (Logic, Ableton, garageband,...). Never had problems record a simple audio track with the built-in mic. Until I bought the industry standard recording software
