thanks alot Brandon...

since this is the "Best Win/HD/TDM" thread and there seems to currently be no i7 920 boards w/ 3 PCIX slots right next to each other, wouldn't another possible best system be dual q9650's...?

But where are the Win/TDM/Duc threads about runing dual socket mobo systems (for regular 'ole PCIx cards)....

there's a feeling I'm missing something real obvious here...

I wanna know too! We're looking at building a new PT PC and would like a dual CPU capable system that can fit an HD2.

The Tyan's look like great boards and seem to be known for reliability but will an HD card fit in there?

I think it's time we update the HD build thread

Digi doesn't qualify chipsets do they? I did notice the recently qualified some new Dells that are based on the Intel 5400 chipset. Those are expensive boards though but perhaps you get what you pay for? I guess could be a good start...

Thanks Fullsound.

Those are pricey boards. Which raises the question, is there benefit in a dual proc. board?

Brandon, I noticed you use to run the HP xw9300 but you upgraded. Is your newer machine faster than the HP? Just curious why you made the switch.

Thanks!

Hi lunatic,
Yes the computer I built is faster then the 9300. Also, it's much quieter and it has 4 PCI slots for accel cards. I also made a little money on the deal as I remember.

Supermicro does make a i7 motherboard that has 3 pci slots next to each other. One is a pci and the other 2 are PCIX. I have no idea if it will work for PT HD.
Best,
Brandon

Hi Brandon,

Yes, I’ve been on to that board (the X8SAX) for a couple ‘a weeks as the *only* i7 socket board w 3 contiguous, non-pcie slots and am taking the shot at a build w/ it for my HD3 Accel pcix system running PT8 on XP Pro.

Might be another few days before the parts arrive for the build (including one of those 160 GB Intel SSD’s so Ivory can hopefully be played w/out discernable latency).

Will report in…in due course but would love news from anyone in the meantime who runs across another mobo choice in case the X8SAX doesn’t do the trick (and/or bec that mobo seems to support only 1333 Mhz DDR3).

Wow, I would love to hear how the build with the supermicro board goes. Please keep me updated.
Best,
Brandon
