Default Lost ilok

If I buy another iLok, can I then get another license to put on it? I have 800 dollars worth of Pro Tools that is useless at the moment and I would like to fix that. It seems like replacing this is a lot more difficult with Avid than other DAWs who use dongles.

I would go through the process and see if a new dongle is provided in the costs. If not, you can obtain one yourself. If the replacement license is deposited in your account before you get a new iLok, you can still use it via cloud activation.

Oh, one last question; if I do have to get a new iLok, do I have to get the same one I had before? In other words, if I had the black version 2, do I need that one or will any one do?

You need an ilok2 or ilok3 for PT versions above PT10 as PT11 and up requires the version 2 or higher, not the old green keyshaped ilok1.

We use those here too and they can handle more licenses and aren’t soo fragile and flimsy built as the other two older ones They sure were prone to break quite easily so the new iLok3 are way better.

Ok, I have purchased a new iLok. I went through the linking process in my account manager. When I log in, I see the old one there unless the name carries over.

Before I can activate a license and put it on this iLok, it is telling me that I need to surrender a license. Looks like from the original purchase. When I try to do that, it won't let me. And the continue button is grayed out.
