need opinions on compressor plugs

I'm looking for opinions on what I compressor plugs I should be trying out. The last one I bought was McDsp Compressorbank and it has served me well. I'm disappointed in the lack of CB4 in the latest upgrade, well I guess it's still in legacy which means soon unsupported. It almost seems like they came out with 6030 and got rid of CB4 so you'll want a current supported upgrade. I may be off base and maybe I should be looking at 6030, but it just seems like CB4 to me.

My main goal is to move to mixing ITB and leave my 1176, and LA-2a for the input chain, so being able to come close to their sound as well as some other comps would be great.

Waves has a 1176 compressor. You should also look at the waves vcomp..it finds its way into every project I work on.

Have you tried CT4 Compressor from Massey ?
I'm using it quite frequently.

Pretty much the same comps i was going to recommend. also Softube Tube-tech CL1B

If you are a fan of the authentic hardware sound then UAD have it. But you have to buy a card of course!!

loving the waves CLA classic compressors. also love their studio classics collection (which comes with their api, neve and ssl plugs). the CLA stuff was a total game changer for me.

I'm also extremely happy with the Waves CLA bundle! I seriously use the LA-2A and 1176 from that collection on every mix...literally. I would pretty much go along with what both matt and crizdee suggested with the Waves studio classics and the CL1B plug.

You'd be really surprised what you can do with the Waves Rcomp too.

Aside from the waves plugs you should really give the McDsp 6030 a fair shot. We use it in just about every mix both post and music.

Not a "vintage" plug, but truly incredibly useful problem solver and all round wonder. Best user interface of any comp plug IMO.
Only Native.

They just released a gate plug. I've been waiting for something like this for years. And the brick wall limiter............and the EQ and...... the rest.
I don't work for them.......but I purchased all their plugs.
