Default Mbox 2 Firmware v1.43 - DAT Issue Fix

Firmware updaters available for PowerPC Macs, Intel-based Macs, and Windows XP:
http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...4&itemid=24364

The folowing issue is fixed with Mbox 2 Firmware Updater v1.43 for Mac OS X and Windows XP:

Fixed: Certain DAT Decks Lock To The Wrong Sample Rate When Recording From Mbox 2 (Item #83265)
  • When attempting a 48kHz sample rate DAT recording via the S/PDIF input, some DAT machines would either show a clock error or lock at a 44.1kHz rate, resulting in a DAT recording that would later play at the wrong speed.
Mbox 2 with firmware v1.43 is backwards compatible with any version of Pro Tools LE for Mac OS X and Windows XP that supports the Mbox 2 (Pro Tools LE 6.8.1 and higher).

Default Re: Mbox 2 Firmware v1.43 - DAT Issue Fix

I followed the link, read the instructions, and attempted to update teh firmware in my MBOX2. after starting the updater program, I plugged the MBOX2 in, and when it powered up, I selected UPDATE FIRMWARE. After pressing the button, it paused for about 15 seconds then gave me an error message stating that the file had not been downloaded... I waited a few minutes, no change. I unplugged the MBOX2, shut down the program, rebooted the computer, and tried again.. same result.

I shut everything down again, and this time after restarting, the MBOX2 would no longer power up when plugged in.. I tried other cables, and other USB ports. Anyone else have issues like this?

Thanks.

Danny

Unplug your MBox 2 while downloading the driver, unzip the driver, then launch the update, then plug-in the M Box 2, then press the update button and it should work. The same thing happened to me, I double checked the read me, and this order (and perhaps speed at which you plug in the cable) has a bearing on the firmware update.

I did that originally... and a couple of times since.. Whenever I tried it, it gave me a FIRMWARE UPDATE FAILED NO DEVICE FOUND message.

Now I get that message with everything. It just does not power up when I plug the USB cable in..

I may go back to PTLE 7.1 and try again. I have uninstalled and reinstalled PTLE 7.3 twice with no affect either..

I'm stumped.

Thanks however.

Another update for those following this...,

I installed the stand alone drivers onto my laptop and connected the Mbox2 to it with the same result. All that I can come up with is that whilst downla\oading and installing the newer version of firmware, something critical sh*t-the-bed and now it refuses to initialize.

Is anyone aware of a way to force the Mbox2 into a default or test mode?

Thanks once again.
