Default Avid's policy on upgrade?

Hi, I'm thinking about to upgrade from PT 10 HD to PT 11HD. I understand that thereis policy that if I buy a new PT 11 at a very late time, then I can get a no charge free UG to PT 12 . Will this apply to PT 11 HD upgrade like if I purchase the 11 HD upgrade at a very late time, then I can get a free upgrade to 12 HD?

Thanks!

Hi

I guess that would apply as it was with PT9 to 10 and 10 to 11 BUT, no one knows when Avid will release PT12 and as they never relay that info we won't know until PT12 is released. May be a while but could be in one week Who knows and I doubt nobody knows 100% that the upgrade structure will be the same as there is talk about subscription based for the future, not confirmed but might be in the cards so I would just update and use PT11 until PT12 is out and all that comes with a new Big release, Good and Bad

Best Regards
Christopher

They change the policy all the time. Previously there was a 30 day window, then a 3 week window, and then last time there was no window. So there's no way to know.

Upgrade when you have to, not when you'd like to. Only you can determine that. To me, have to means it's costing you money not to, IMHO.

For historical reference...
Pro Tools 11 was announced on April 7th, 2013

If you purchased Pro Tools 10 on or after April 7th, you were entitled to a free upgrade to Pro Tools 11 when it was released on June 21st, 2013
