Pro Tools 2018.7 Hangs at start - W10

Hello,

First,
I can use PT and it works pretty well on my system except the following problem !

I recently tried to make a PT Template with ALL my Orchestral Sound Banks.
I essentially use Native Instruments Kontakt 5.8.1.
I loaded 18 instances of Kontakt in different intruments tracks to fit my needs, then loaded my sounds, created the desired aux outputs, created all my midi tracks, etc...
I also use Omnisphere 2.5, Keyscape, Native Instruments Maschine and the UVI Player, also loaded in my session.

All seemed to go well, i closed my session then re-opened it and Pro Tools hanged, i tried several times to reload my session after restarting my computer but for now it hangs in the edit window just after loading.
No errors, no unexpected quits, it just hangs…

It just happens on that session, on other smaller smaller project sessions, everything is fine.


My specs:

Intel 3700
Gygabyte Z77-D3H
32 Go RAM DDR-3 2600
4 SSD Drives Samsung 840 EVO - 1.5 T
UAD Appollo Twin Duo Usb3
Renesas PCIe USB3 Extension

Windows 10 Professional V.1803
No Anti-virus
Avid Application Manager, Mac Drive and Google Drive as main background tasks.

If anybody have an idea…
I use Cubase also but I would like to use Pro Tools as it has some features i miss a lot when i work on Cubase…

Nobody here can guess... you need to troubleshoot this. Trash prefs, check plugins are up to date, try importing into a new session, try recreating by hand in stages and testing by restarting at each stage, and so on...

Thank you for your quick response.

I'll look into it more deeply, but, while trying to unload some Sound Banks by Moving them from their original folder, the session actually loaded without the "8dio Passionate Piano".
So far so good…

You could also start a new blank session, import the data from your template session and then create a new template from your new session and see if that works...

Or try this:
Hold the SHIFT key while you open your session. This will make all plugins inactive(all settings remain). Assuming that allows the session to open, I would enable maybe the first 6 out of your 18 total VI plugins and save the template that way(I suspect the rig is choking on trying to open 18 instances at once, so give it less work to open). You can activate more plugins as you need them.

My template session has tons of plugins in place, but many(in my case, its all with high latency) are inactive to start. I activate as the need calls for. Hope this helps
