Freeze on startup, PT 9.0.5, OSX 10.6.8

Hello all,

I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out a problem launching ProTools 9. It freezes while I'm starting it up, usually at the "Building Mix Window" stage. Sometimes if I leave it for a while (like 20 minutes) it eventually loads -- other times it just stays like that.

I recently upgraded to v.9 from v.7, and I'm using a brand new iMac with 12 gigs of ram, so the computer's power shouldn't be an issue. Plugins seem to load (it freezes after this stage). I disabled the Waves TDM plugins just in case, and also repaired the hard disk, neither of which made a difference.

This just started out of nowhere (I hadn't recently installed any plugins), and once in a while it still loads quickly, but it's becoming more and more rare. I'm recording with a Duet 2 onto a Glyph firewire drive. Restarting the computer sometimes works, usually doesn't.

I will be eternally grateful to anyone who has an idea what to do.

We have similar issues on a PT|HD system, running on a Mac Pro. Only solution yet: Shut down completely, wait at least 30 (!) min. and restart. This occurs just once in a while. No idea, why. Support(s) could not help.

In your ulility folder you will find a program, called "Konsole". Open it and somewhere in there is a digidesign folder with log files. That will give you a idea of what happens in your system.
