Default 7.4.2pr w/10.5.3 Spotlight re-indexes drives on PTLe quit.

PPC Dual 2.3, Mbox 2, 6.5 gig memory. After closing session, when I quit PTLe, Spotlight re-indexes my drives - even a new session created with nothing in it. Also, a couple of 'crash on quit' problems with what appears to be DAE errors in the crash report, then it re-indexes. This occurs whether or not the session drive is listed as Private for Spotlight searches. 100% reproducible - anyone else notice/have this problem? This was a clean install. I have a crash report for session that CoQs and plugs list if Digi is interested.

Yes, I see the same thing with a 2.66 quad core intel Mac 6GB ram, Mbox 2 Pro - OS 10.5.3 / LE 7.4.2pr

Sometimes, PT can't open again until the indexing completes. It'll just bounce in the dock...

Yep, similar problem here.

When I load a session, it starts doing a Spotlight re-indexing of the disk that session is on.

When I quit, or as I just discovered moments ago, even CLOSE the session (w/o actually quitting PT) it does the same.

I'm running an Mbox 2 Pro on 10.5.3 on an MBP 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM with a pile of peripherals...

Wacky! Hope it's fixed for the upcoming final release.

I would turn Spotlight completely off, you can run into all sorts of issues.

System Preferences / Spotlight / Privacy

Drag all hard drives concerned into the window.

Also uncheck the box for Spotlight menu keyboard shortcut, (it makes recording easier

From the READ ME :

Spotlight Will Not Index Hard Drives with ProTools Running (Item #97151)

Spotlight cannot properly index hard drives while ProTools is running. With ProTools running, you can still use Spotlight
to search hard drives but any new files created while ProTools is running cannot be searched. When you quit ProTools, Spot-
light resumes normal indexing of hard drives. Note that ProTools may be slow to open while Spotlight is busy indexing.
Also, if you mount a volume while Pro Tools is launched, Spotlight will index it. This may lead to errors when recording a
high number of tracks. It is recommended that you mount and unmount volumes without ProTools running.

Digi: The problem is not that the read me was missed, or.. not read The problem is that, for instance, I have set all drives/partitions to private; When I start Pro Tools, mdworker/mds are cool, minimal/expected activity (as needed by system). Fire up PT, all is as expected/should be. Quit PT, and re-indexing starts. Not an update, but a full indexing, as if the index was trashed and is being rebuilt.

I have done this: Verify md* actions (using Terminal), and when no indexing is being done, fire up Pro Tools LE 7.4.2pr. Quit PT. Yes, NO ACTIONS. NOTHING. No session opened, nothing. Within 30 seconds of PT being completely loaded, QUIT. Upon quiting, md* processes are restored to action, but what is expected to happen does not. By checking processes and file system usage, one can see that it is more than an indexing update. For my only partition not set to private, my main system drive of ~28G, this results in a 9-13 minute re-indexing EVERY TIME I quit PT, period, end of story. Is THAT the expected behaviour? It seems like quiting PT kills the index, or results in a complete rebuild.

Digi - I am also having the problem - that a complete NEW Spotlight re-indexing takes place when quitting PTLE 7.4.2pr. Some additional technical detail:

Here are the console messages I get when starting PTLE, and indexing stops:

6/2/08 10:20:48 PM mds[490] Error (Error) Task: Invalid storeTokenID (6b000020) in MDSFetchTask
6/2/08 10:20:48 PM mds[490] Error (Warning) Task: MDSStoreTask failed to resolve storeID (6b000020)

Here is the console message I get when quitting PTLE and COMPLETELY NEW re-indexing starts on my main disk:

6/2/08 10:21:05 PM com.apple.launchd[97] Warning ([0x0-0x5e05e].com.digidesign.ProToolsLE[482]) Stray process with PGID equal to this dead job: PID 484 PPID 1 DigiShoeTool

It is a complete re-indexing taking around an hour to complete. I had to make my sample drives private to save some time.

Same here, totally re-indexing occurs after PTLE quit. MBox 2, Macbook 2.16, OSX 10.5.3, PTLE 7.4.2
Dragged all HDs to privacy in Spotlight pref pane to stop it indexing at all.

Same here
Funny thing is that spotlight works FINE with 7.4.1cs4 on 10.5.3 (Protools LE as well)

Will it work properly with the final version? As I need you use spotlight with protools open, all day everyday!

cheers
