I know I've posted this a few times, but after quite a few upgrades, nothing has been done about it.
Digi, do you plan on fixing this, or is it something you can't be bothered with? Thanks Dean

no, this is done in real-time. Be careful though as they are not included in consolidations so a track that plays back fine using the real-time fades will have ticks when flattened.

in "Preferences" - >"Operation"-> Auto Region Fade in / Out length
set it to 3ms-6ms (or longer) This will stop any region begining or end from clicking..(it does not create fades, its just playback) as mentioned before, this does not take effect when consolidating regions, there still will be pops, ....but you can bus the track to a new track and record it as a work around.

What version of PT are you running?
Are you getting this while recording with ADC turned on? There has been a problem where there is an audio glitch equal in length to the maximum ADC delay when recording with ADC on and stopping recording manually. The audio glitch came from the record buffer but lately (since PT6.7cs2) I think they tried to solve this by filling that glitch with silence, which can also create a click if stopped with a non-silent audio signal at the inputs... if the max delay is long enough, the glitch can be long enough so that it is not faded by the Auto Fade feature. If that is your problem, try recording with ADC off. |

In addition to a delay comp issue that was addressed in Pro Tools 6.7, versions 6.7cs1 and cs3 addressed several pop problems. If you download cs4, it will contain all the below fixes and more - are these the circumstances under which you are getting clicks?
Fixed: An Audible Pop Would Result when Stopping Playback (Item #54509) * When Pro Tools was playing with a track record enabled, stopping playback could result in a pop if the input source was bussed or was a hardware insert. Fixed: An Audio Glitch Could Be Recorded when Using Pre-Roll (Item #54843) * With some external hardware configurations, an audio glitch could be recorded to the beginning of a file when pre-roll was activated. Fixed: Using Auto Region Fade In/Out could cause a pop on region boundaries (Item #56470) * When setting a value other than zero for the Auto Region Fade In/Out Length preference, pops could occur on region boundaries when using non-native format audio in a session. If your circumstance is not covered by the above fixes, please post here, with as many details as you can provide. BTW, a suggestion on the Auto Region fade in/out pref - I would not recommend setting it too high, or you can start hearing dips where there are edits between two regions. This feature does not provide a crossfade, only a quick fade out/in between regions. I find that 3ms works pretty well. Danny Caccavo Digidesign |
