My experience with metal musicians is that they are ultra specific with the sounds they want, almost none of them want to sound different, they want to sound exactly as their favourite records so the easiest way for me is to have several of the most used amps in metal (like the 5150 and the Dual Rectifier) and dial in the exact settings they tell me which usually never change except perhaps the drive control for solos/rhythm. I know that ENGL has a place in those styles.

That's exactly right, like almost every other amp... but try telling your hardcore client you are going to record their album with a Twin Reverb

Thanks! I tried it a long time ago and didn't like it, back then I didn't understand the process but still...

Today's MILLENNIA TCL-2, any good words?

Piano and bass are the two uses it sees on a regular basis for me. Not much else to tell the truth. Interesting combo I've found lately is on bass where bx_bassdude which has been my go-to bass amp emulation of late doesn't just give me what the track needs and I use a combo of the TCL-2 and NSEQ in place of bassdude. Elsewise on bass it's bassdude & TCL-2.

Tried it on my 2-bus and it just didn't work for me nor in my mastering chain.

Thanks! I've used the hardware preamp and it was very clean but I can't remeber if this compressor was included, the EQ was nice too but for this little personality I can pretty much go with 100% digital stuff. I love how they look though

The Millenia stuff is clean in a different way than say Grace. There's an interesting article in the latest Recording magazine where they got together a bunch of h/w preamp makers to discuss preamps and what goes into them design-wise.

OT: We're finally seeing the sun today here in NJ after multiple days of rain. Still cold for the month of May though

Could you please link said article?

6 degrees today in Ottawa, it feels like +20, I can walk around the neighborhood with just a t-shirt on (and pants of course).
