Default PT8 doesn't start...

Hi,

I have a 003 with PT8, and this is my story...

A few months ago, I changed my PT 7 with the 8 version.

Immediately PT8 gaves me a lot of problems. Thinking to solve problems with the "CS updates" I continued to work.
Problems became intolerable, so I decided to reinstall Windows XP, Pro Tools and all softwares that I need to work.

Nothing changed...

So, after this introduction, I can explain the problem.

After I install PT8, it works well. No problem.

BUT...

If I install a software (plug-ins or any other programs not connected to Pro Tools) or hardware (USB Keys or external HD), when i try to start Pro Tools, it gives me this error message "Pro Tools has encountered an unrecognize component and must now exit"

At this point, I have to install a PT update (8.0.1, 8.0.1cs1, etc...) or install the PT8 again, but I'd want to solve this problem forever.

Here is my PC:

- CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Socket 775
- Motherboard: Asus P5K, Intel P35
- Graphic card: NVidia GeForce 7200GS PCI-Express
- RAM: 2GB (2x1GB Dual Channel)
- HD 1(OS and Programs): 320GB Seagate Barracuda SerialATA2
- HD 2(Recording Sessions): 320GB Seagate Barracuda SerialATA2
- OS: Windows XP SP2

- Digi 003

Notes: I update the NVidia drivers to the latest version.

Anyone knows what's the problem?

I'm really really really really really really REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY sick and tired of this situation.
I want to spend my working time to be a sound engineer, not a computer programmer to find bugs in Digidesign software.

Thanks and greets.

Sorry, but I don't understand what you say.
I wrote all info that I could find, so could you explain what you need to help me, please?

First: I complety reformatted the HD and then I installed the OS (Win XP).

Second: I installed the PT 8.0 from DVD.

Third: I installed the 8.0.1 update. Works fine (I recorded a 1:30 hrs live gig... NO PROBLEM).

Fourth: I installed the ILok, tried to start PT... "Pro Tools has encountered an unrecognize component and must now exit"...

Fifth: I installed PT 8.0.1 cs1. PT returned to live!!

Sixth: I installed the Factory Bundle Plug-ins (7.4 version downloaded from Digi site). Tried to start PT... "Pro Tools has encountered an unrecognize component and must now exit"... HOLY S**T!!!

What's wrong? I don't believe to make any mistake...

Greets.

Oh thanks... I'm sorry, I missed the part of Sandra report when I read the "General Troubleshooting" thread.
This evening I'll go in the studio to install PT 8.0.3 and I'll make the Sandra/Tamara report...

Thanks again.

You insert the I-lok without Pro Tools open, actually it's best to insert the Ilok with the PC OFF: then start the PC and let it recognize it, download the drivers for it, put all your authorizations on it, THEN install the I-lok-authorized plugins, then launch Pro Tools. At which point it sees the new plugins, recognizes the Ilok, authorizes the new plugins, and you're done.

Update the plug-ins to the latest version for PT8. Most of the Digi/Bomb Factory plug-ins will be v 8.0.

I would stay with 8.0.1 cs1 until you have straitened this out and cloned your drive.
