Video becomes slideshow

I've been having this problem regularly now, and it's driving me crazy. I can play video just fine, but if I load a new video file into a session, it immediately stutters and plays back only still frames from every few seconds throughout the picture. Quitting Pro Tools and then opening it again fixes it. Does anyone know how to make this stop? Thanks!

Your signature indicates v11.3.0. Have you tried v11.3.1?

Had my head down so long I hadn't noticed 11.3.1 was up. Installed, and so far it looks like that has fixed it. Thanks CT!

Spoke too soon. I just loaded new picture into a session and this behaviour is back. Had to quit and relaunch PT to get video to play. Any other suggestions?

Have you tried toggling the video engine on/off/on without quitting?

Well, I've tried that several times now, and restarting the Video Engine doesn't help. Relaunching Pro Tools is the only thing that does work

I have a new symptom now that's left me completely baffled. I open a session with video in it, and notice that the video is just stuttering freeze-frames every 5-8 seconds. Taking Chief Technician's advice, I toggle the video engine. Now I get video that plays smoothly for a second, freezes, plays smoothly again for a couple of seconds, freezes again, etc. Here's where it get weird: If I change playlists on one track the video playback is fixed. Even if I change back to the playlist I began with, it stays fixed.

Of course, I'm grateful to have a workaround that gets me back to work, but it makes me look incompetent in front of clients. Hoping 12 addresses the AVE issues that so many users seem to be having.
