Aux input reverb messing with volume on other tracks!

What's going on here then? Usually when I use reverb, I just stick it on as a plug infor whatever track needs it, but tried using an aux input reverb and the volume swells I put in on the tracks don't work anymore. Plus, I find that when I solo a track with reverb applied, I can also hear the other tracks it's on.

Any help? So far it seems much easier just to apply the reverb as a plug in wherever it's needed!

Hi Crossroadblues,

I see this is your first post out here so first of all : welcome.

I sounds to me like you might be stuck in some basic understanding of how a send / aux return setup works as opposed to inserting a reverb ( or any fx plugin) directly on the source track.

Both have advantages and disadvantages.

For now - look at the send / aux way of doing this as 'many sources into 1 fx'

Now - the bus you are using to send the source signal is going to feed the aux return (or aux input track). You can send this signal pre fader or post fader and that is going to significantly affect things whilst mixing. Up to you to decide of course which is applicable for which situation.

That solo thingy you mention: sounds to me like you have the aux return eith the reverb plugin on it solo safe. I think it is a matter of understanding what the mixer is doing and why and I'm sure it will all make sense once you analyze all the signal paths.

The pre-post fader thing sounds like it might be the thing to sort the volume swells. Where exactly is that button?! With the solo thing, I take it I can just turn off "solo safe" in the pop up for the D-verb?

To explain the situation, I've got a piece with about twelve tracks. I only want reverb on about 4 or 5 of them. Only some of those tracks have volume swells which I just set in the edit window. Seems like I should maybe just apply the aux in reverb to the tracks without the volume swells and use plug ins for the one's that do have them.

You want help, you should really put some work into explaining your problem clearly.

Both are topics and clearly explained in the manual. You shouldn't expect to get step-by-step instructions around here.
