It does seem pretty counterintuitive to not offer HEAT to all Pro Tools users. I highly doubt many users invest in Ultimate just for HEAT.
I think Avid views Heat as one of those carrots to entice users to upgrade or spend more on Ultimate.

Nothing against Heat but there are plenty of plugs out there that do a great job of adding "heat".

I know that is the intention, but at $495 HEAT is a very stale carrot. Particularly given the amount of options available in 2019. What good is an expensive & exclusive carrot in a world already full of cost effective, and readily available carrots?

Agreed, and I have most of them including some hardware. I like options, and have a separate license for Heat on my main Ultimate rig. This was simply a question whether it would be coming to non Ultimate Pro Tools. I knew that nobody would have the answer to it, was just wondering if it had been spoken about in the past as I have done some searches and came up with nothing.

I guess you never know with Avid. I don't recall anything on the DUC about it.

Maybe your thread here will spark the discussion!

Lets hope. I just think it's pointless not to allow someone to use a feature that's already usable without an hdx card and doesn't come free with Ultimate. From a dollars and cents point of view, think about how many more PT users would shell out the $500 to add on heat.

Not many! There are soo many plugins for less than a 5th of that price that does the same thing as HEAT so thinking non HD users who complains about the $99 a year fee to keep current would cough up $500 for HEAT is a non starter for sure.
