PT11 keeps freezing

Downloaded the update, run the installer, rebooted.. First try, nothing. It started on the second try though but it's still weird that it has this problem.

Any more ideas?

This page says that your operating system 10.8.5 is the oldest supported by 11.3 so while it should work you might have better luck with Yosemite. If everything else you have is supported on Yosemite, that upgrade is something that I think you should consider.

That would be an option although I'm not very pleased with that.. Everything worked perfect up until this point but hey, I guess I'll have to give it a try. Thanks!

Sooo, everything is up to date but it's still unpredictable. I want to contact someone of avid's tech support, how do I get there fastest?

Shameless bump.. Can it be a hardware problem? I'm using a mid 2010 macbook pro, see the specs below, is it time for an upgrade?

Maybe not; do you have anything else running while trying to start PT? It's possible Spotlight is trying to index a drive while PT starts. That or a web browser or possibly even wireless connectivity is interfering.

BTW OSX 10.8.5 runs PT11.3.0 no problem here; ditto for OSX 10.9.5

Wireless is on and some other small stuff going on in the background but nothing serious.. A macbook should be able to handle this right? Not trying to use anything illegal in case you guys were wondering. Some waves plugins that I bought, nothing more..

Did a clean install, didn't install the AIR plugins and it seems to be working better today. Not sure if I'm lucky today or PT really is working as it should Any known problems with AIR plugins..?

Problem is, you never know when the small stuff might grab a resource just before Pro Tools needs it. And if Pro Tools needs it and can't get it, you've got a problem.

And don't forget the proverbial "camel's back"...sometimes even something small can put you over the line...

So what you're suggesting is basically shutting everything down off before opening PT? Seems a bit drastic but if it works, it works. Try that for a while, thanks.
