New ilok key on Protools 9

I just watched the Protools 9 video on facebook and when they show the guys using the laptops the show a new type of ilok key.

Do we know anything about that yet?

It looks more compact. The What's New PDF mentions:
"You can use either the new version of the iLok (shown above) or the previous version of the iLok to hold your Pro Tools authorizations."

Great I might be able to only use 1 ilok now instead of two. My waves mercury and ssl tdm licences take up 1 complete ilok. And I have to have second 1 for all my didgesign hd stuff.

Supposedly the new iLok holds upwards of 700 or 800 licenses. I have three, and really will be nice to consolidate onto 1 iLok.

Anyone know if the boxed version of the upgrade is shipping with the new iLok? That would certainly sway my opinion on which upgrade to order.

it looks like it's included with the boxed full version, but not the boxed upgrade? can anyone confirm that? i don't currently own an iLok, and I want to upgrade to PT9, so do I not get an iLok in the box if I upgrade? when will the new iLok be available for purchase? i don't want to buy the old one - too big and bulky for my laptop....

I was confused on this one as well. I hastily ordered the upgrade (download) and an iLok initially, and then thought twice and emailed the AVID store to enquire about reversing it and ordering the boxed version with iLok instead.

Their response was as follows:

Thank you for your inquiry.

Pro Tools 9 full version, shippable box is the one that comes with the
Ilok USB Smart key.

We apologize if any information on the store led you to think that the
upgrade box version will include the Ilok key.

Feel free to contact us again if you have further questions.

Thank you for your interest in our products.

So it seems that it's only the full version, NOT the upgrade which includes an iLok.

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. There have been some people saying that it's included in boxed versions. some saying that it's included with the full version only. some saying that it's sold separately.....
