Default PLugin issues

I am new to plugins but I recently purchased Autotune and the Maserati Bundle from waves. I noticed especially with the waves that my laptop cpu was getting taxed hardcore. I have PTLE 7.3.1 which is not supported by the Maserati bundle but I've seen other people use it.

Anyways, I figure that I'll try to see what I can do about my 5 yr old laptop-if there is anything possible-before I look into a newer computer.

Previously I was able to put as many of the digi stock plugs I wanted, without problem. When I got autotune, I noticed I could put about 5 or 6 of those up in addition to the digi stock. When I got the Maserati plugs, they sounded awesome and I couldn't resist buying them but I can't put more than 2 or 3 without cpu errors and they're really glitchy.

Any suggestions on where to start, in solving these issues? Would it make a major difference to upgrade to PT 8? Do I need a better video card?

Oh yeah, I disable the internet network adapter everytime I use PT. And I have an OWC external drive that I record to via eSATA

Where do you record your Audio to?
A second fast hard drive is essential. (Sorry, saw the red print a little late!)

I guess putting 4 GB of Ram could help a little.

With PT8 your CPU should get another performance hit.

By the way which interface do you use and which error messages do you get?

Right, what Digi interface are you using? Is it Firewire? What version of Waves and Auto Tune?

I have the mbox2

I use version 7 of waves and it's autotune evo

I'll have to check a little later which error message it is.

when you say it would get a performance hit, is that the good kind like a homerun hit or is it like a hit in the face, kind of hit?

I'm not too fond of a hit in the face.

so I'm better off with 7.3.1 in this case?

Yes, if you feel underpowered now, you will hate the way you feel in PT8 with that same computer.
