Default After 1 Year and 10 days, it arrived...

I will not get in to the kafkanian details that make my S6 M10 16f take long 12 months to arrived in my studio.

So it is here and I`m very exicted.

It make me think about the logistics of send and receive around 30 boxes, for such so small controller, but I would like to say that it was really well packed. I really have the impression that it traveled really well from EUA to BRAZIL.

Those lot of boxes, all most take all the space in my studio.

Today was a beautifull day in Rio, so I did not spent the hole day at the studio, but in more or less 2 hours me and my assistant assembled the hole chassis, bolster and rear panels.

The manual is very straigthforward in my opinion, only the screws set`s and they "numeral names", make some confusion sometimes. Next monday I will finish mounting it, and will come back to you guys with more comments.

Some pictures of the boxes and my assitant.

Well, technically, it was only 9 months!!!

First 3 being "pre order" status.

Seriously, congrats and enjoy. The next few months are going to be really great for S6 owners as the final core features get implemented.

Hi Drew, we've been hearing the next major software upgrade would occur before Christmas. You mention the "next few months" here. Did you just mean there will be more and more good stuff as the updates are released in general, or are you hearing that V1.3 is still a few months away in particular (like, next year)?
Thanks!

My mention of a few months was referring to Avid's self imposed deadline of reaching ICON feature parity within a year. That year is up in January-ish. It's likely that those features will "roll out" incrementally during this time and not come all at once.

1.2 came out in July I think, so I would expect 1.3 anytime now since they were shooting for quarterly releases.

My understanding is that 1.3 is due about now, should be any time soon. :)

Hi, the avid specialist here in the studio today, told me that the new realease should come in the end of the month.

Well, the controller was assembled. It took more or less 4 hours in the monday to patch it up. No big deal, just follow the manual. After that with the arrival of the avid guy we started to install the WS Eucon interface, Xmon (that we can not make it work).

Worth to notice that the delivery package missed the main AC cable to patch the supllied PSU to the nobreak outlet. Because I`m in Brasil, it isn`t easy to find. I can say it did not exists around here. But it seems that it was allready sent from US.

Also there are some ethernet cables missing, each S6 should have 4 set of cables, from small to large, plus the "purple one" to connect the S6 to computer. I receive only the small and medium, so I need to re-position the switch and the power suplies, but the avid guy notice that cables missing and we start to re-postioning it again, because the only brazilian reseller provided the "large cables".

In that repositioning, the molex connector of the main module "pop`s in" - so here I almost have a heart attack. Well we manage to gentle pull it over...

Well, with some "brazilian way" we use a regular BR PSU and turn on the console.
After several years of S5 mixing, I can say that it did not stand behind - not discussing ITB vs OTB mixing. I must say that PT HD 11 + S6 has a much more precise interection than the previous PT HD 10 S5/S5 MC ones. All the parts seems very top notch. Amazing fades, knobs and switchs. The softkeys are really nice and really easy to read.

The touch monitor is also really nice, but my instant feelling was to try to reach it with my computer mouse...

I did not have time to deep explore it, but it seems to be easy to operate and navigate. I think it could be opened to third parties like Atmos, Auro 3D or other plug-ins manufaturing, it could be really something to stand out of the crowd completely.

The layout adition is a must have, thanks they did it, and it is expect to be possible to map it`s slots to the softkeys in this next firmware realese.

I still need to fix my furniture.

Well... let`s mix.
