Maybe PT11 doesn't support midnam files anymore?

BTW - there's no need to have multiple threads with the same subject - once is enough thank you. You have one already over in the PT11 forum.
Hi,
I'm just trying to add a midnam file to my JV2080. I got the .midnam file in the HD/Library/Audio/MIDI Patch Names/Avid/Roland, but when I open it in the Patch Select dialog, I'm getting an error message " MIDIServer patch file, bank , or mode information not available for this MIDI instrument".

I also read Page 660/661 of the PT11 ReferenceGuide and did exactly what was written there.

Is it simply broken in PT11 or am I doing something wrong ?
Anyone else ?

I believe it's broken, though at least one person says they've been able to work with patch lists in PT11. The count of 'not working for me' is growing. And BTW, it's only on the Mac, PC working fine.

Yes I created a session in PT11 and it wouldn't work, couldn't change midnam files or anything, open the same session in PT10.x and it works fine.

So it seems, that it is broken. Is this already on Avid's bugfix list ? Does someone know ?

I am also not able to access MIDI patch names in PT 11.1.2 on Mac OS 10.8.5. I get the same error message: "MIDIServer patch file, bank, or mode information not available for this MIDI instrument.", even after editing my .middev and .midaam files, deleting PT and Audio Midi Setup preferences, and recreating my Audio Midi Setup. I also can't access MIDI patch names from Finale 2012c and Finale 2014a, so this is a system wide issue for me.

Finale tech support has not been able to resolve this issue. Their response was: <<It seems odd that this is happening in other programs as well, and usually that points to a configuration with the device or its files.>>

Avid tech support has also not been able to resolve this issue. Bill from Avid tech support suggested that I install PT 10.3.8, which I would rather not do, as this would most likely not fix the same issue in Finale or PT 11. He replied:

<<I have been able to recreate this issue in Pro Tools 11.1.2 under Mac OS 10.8.5 and have reported it. From what you are saying in your case you are seeing the same behavior i other application that use AMS as well like Finale, Can you confirm this for me. Please let me know if you are seeing this same issue in other applications when you try to associate a .midnam file with a device. In the meantime I'm investigating a solution but this may require an update to resolve.

Best regards,
Bill

And so we wait for MIDI patch names functionality to work as it used to work in previous version of Pro Tools (and in my case, Finale).

Thx a lot for the info. So it is not related to MacOsX10.9 but more to PT11.1.2 ?
But strange then, that it also messes Finale up.

First - thank you danlogic for taking it to Avid and getting it confirmed as a problem. I have not been able to get patch lists working since the dawn of PT11, though they were working in PT10.x when 11 was issued. Now, unfortunately, even in 10.3.8 patch lists are no longer working for me. I can't say at what version of 10.x.x they quit working or in what combination with PT11, but the advice to install 10.3.8 may not work out.

I do not use Finale, so I cannot comment on that. I do use DP8 and patch lists are working fine there. I'm on OSX.9.1 and you're on 10.8.5 so it would appear to be a problem with the apps rather that the OS. Hopefully this will get worked out in the next update.
