If I don't purchase a support plan before the last day of 2015, I can still use my 11.x license forever, correct?

Thanks-

Your license will not go anywhere. In fact, you can upgrade right now to Pro Tools 12 for $199 and you will receive a bundle license for Pro Tools 10/11/12 which is PERPETUAL, meaning you can use it forever even if you let your support plan lapse in a year.

Much as i dislike all the new plans subscription can actually be a "good deal" bite my tongue.

- If you are the type that likes to keep using the latest version of PT the break even point between subscription vs owning and paying maintenance is 7 years!
- If you don;t need PT all the time, even monthly rental can make sense if you take 2 months or more off per year.

BUT --- starting in 2016 there may very well be "frozen PT licenses" on iloks available on the used market. No one can really say if this will work (but it should) and these may be the way for the 2016 PT bargain shoppers...

Certainly all but the very elite DAWs (Nuendo for example) are MUCH cheaper...

from my January post on this ...
