Is there the ability for the educational License upgrade to the retail version?

My friend is one student in the college,he have one educational pt 12 license,
Is there the ability for the educational License upgrade to the retail version in the furture if he want to do the music business?I know the steinberg's production

Yes there is a possible route to get a retail ( updated ) version of the student license after the student plan is up. Right now I "think" it is $199 and i suspect it will be around that a while longer.

I can ask if you want but need to know when his student plan runs out.

Also is it an EDU license or Student license as thats different versions. In your first post you mention both,

I paid to upgrade my EDU version, which I had bought more than 4 years prior. The license now is a regular old PT12 license with no indication of EDU status.

I don't think Avid makes a big deal about it if you want to continue with a regular upgrade path. Keep in mind you do not have to buy an ASC to deal with license or purchase issues. In my case there was some issue with the upgrade, not sure what, but Jeffro sorted it out for me.

My friend bought the student license during the promotion periods,he told me he spent $99 for upgrade to pt 12 student license from pt express license.
so could you tell me how long is support plan for this student version upgrade product ?

I believe all plans are annual (1year) so i would assume his version is a year aswell

.. thought it was $199 but maybe it is $99 then
