Re: can not maximize pro tools window???
I have had this issue from pro Tools 11, where I had to do the right-click-cancel routine, and now on pro Tools 12, where the only trick was to shut Down pro Tools and start again. None of the short cuts worked.
Then I found this thread. Removed the dvd disc from the drive, and, voila.. It worked :) Thank you But of course its a bug!!

Re: can not maximize pro tools window???
I just upgraded to 12.7 on my xw8600 Win 7 (x64) Pro machine and started seeing this minimization issue again. When I went to 12.6, it went away after it was happening in 12.5 (or at least I thought).
Turns out, the versions didn't matter, it was just coincidence that I must have had a DVD/Blu-Ray in one of my drives at those times. So, removing the disc was the work around for me. If it does not fix other folks in Windows, I did a bit of troubleshooting before the fix and found something interesting. If I had my Pro Tools session up and actually *pressed* the Minimize button, then I had the issue where it would not come up with Alt+Tab and I needed to launch the Task Manager and 'Switch To..' to get back into Pro Tools. If I *did not press* the Minimize button of the Pro Tools window and wanted to switch over to say Chrome/Opera/etc and did so by either Alt+Tab or just switching to it with the mouse by clicking it on the task bar, then I was able to get back into Pro Tools with Alt+Tab or by clicking on it on the task bar. Minor subtlety, but I hope that makes sense. Last edited by sbohonos; 01-08-2017 at 05:02 AM. |

Re: can not maximize pro tools window???
Hello -
I'm not sure if this thread is still active or the issue has been resolved, but I too am experiencing the same thing. I have PT 12.6 and Windows 8.1. My upgrade and support plan has expired (due to money being very tight), so if Avid does issue a fix, I won't be able to get it. However, with that being said, this issue was never an issue (in my experience) of my earlier versions of PT...my earliest being version 8 up to 10, and then I jumped to 12, and that's when the issue occurred...in PT 12.6. Perhaps, Avid would provide an update to those people, like me, who no longer have a support/upgrade plan even though the issue was never an issue in previous versions.

I'm seeing this approximately one version on, one off. It's back in 18.1

Re: can not maximize pro tools window???
Same here. I did have a disk in my optical drive. Removing it fixed the issue.... This happened on PT 2018, as well as 12.8.
However, before I read this thread, I could 'restore' PT by hitting only the 'Enter' key, (after selecting PT in the taskbar). Alt + Tab wasn't working Bob |
