Unable to zoom right in to use pencil tool.

Hi Everyone,

I have a session where I can't zoom in close enough to us the pencil tool! I am only able to zoom in as far as the waveform stays coloured in. It won't allow me to zoom into the waveform ouline.

What's going on here?

Any help would be appriciated.

Hi. I think you'll find that your Edit window default length is too long.
Change it in Preferences/Display to something like 1 hour (I'm guessing it is set to something large like 12 hours) and I think it may solve your problem.

Good call, my session is 12 hour long. Athough I changed the edit window default length to 1 hour (01:00:00:00) and the session is stiil at 12 hours long.

Now that you've changed the length, can you zoom in and use the pencil?
I also just thought that maybe your audio is from an OMF via Avid. This audio is usually locked (a padlock icon next to the pencil when you try to use it). If this is the case try copying the media to another drive and re importing it or maybe just zero gain the audio files you want to use the pencil tool with thus creating a new audio file. This should effectively "unlock" the audio file.
