2018.12 HD- down arrow key not working properly

Hello all. Have a client using PT 2018.12 HD on an iMac with High Sierra. When playing down the timeline, the Down Arrow Key does not mark the in point of a selection start (with Up Arrow Key completing the selection). Rather, it toggles through the alternate Trim tools. Please let me know if there is something to remedy this irregularity. Thanks.

Works fine in 2019.6 so I doubt you'll get any response other than upgrade to latest (since they don't do fixes for old versions)

(looking at the release notes, I'm guessing this was part of the fix in 2019.5 with overlapping shortcuts for using arrows keys for MIDI editing)

This^^^ and I would try connecting the keyboard to another setup and verifying that the key is working(wouldn't be the first time a keyboard caused an oddity)
