Default Re: Codec error on video import

Hello,

I just installed the PT 11.1.3.325 (latest)
And I have a MC 7 on my MacbookPro.

But I still can't import video into my PT.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

i think I found my problem :

"At this time Pro Tools 11, Pro Tools 10.x and Media Composer can not all be co-installed at the time time"

Any ideas how to get rid of PT10 on my Maverick and get 11 back to work?

Thanks

You'll have to manually remove PT10, as the Uninstaller doesn't work in Mavericks (last I heard, anyway)

I know but I'm not sure which files are from 10 and which from 11?

Or maybe I should uninstall everything and start all over,...?

That's just the thing, you can't. You can either find the files manually (sorry, I don't have a list) or you can wipe the HD and re-install Mavericks.

On installation of PT 11 I was getting errors that some of the codec files may be corrupted. There were at least 10 in a row where I had to press the "Abort"-"Retry"-"Ignore" options during install. After reading what the files were they all had to do with video/Quicktime. Is there a chance that my install files are corrupted? I'm having the same issue as everyone else. I know I have an older PC but everything else is working.

Hello Everyone. I'm new to this forum, but I have been reading about these codec issues with PT11 for a while. I had the same problems as the original post here. PT11 does not play a Prores file that PT10 plays on the same machine.
The solution that finally worked for me after 6 months of asking editors to send me H264 was actually quite a simple one -

- I downloaded the ProApps QT component update here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1396
(The installer wouldn't let me install the .pkg without FCP. I got an error.)
- So, I downloaded, unPKG by timdoug: http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
- Opened the QuickTime ProApps .DMG. Dragged the .pkg file onto the unPKG app.
- Moved all the .component codec files into the Library>Quicktime folder of my boot drive.

Now PT11 plays all prores files sent to me by an FCP editor. I'm now back to using the same codec recommendations as I had before when I was on PT10.

I'm no expert, so I hope this helps others having similar issues.

Try downloading and installing the latest Avid Codec Pack from here.
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...Time-Codecs-LE

Also make sure there are no characters in the video files name other than letters, numbers and spaces. Things like / & " - _ etc, are no nos.

Just want to let folks know what worked for me. After trying all of the various fixes detailed in the previous 10 pages and having no luck I started combing my drives for Quicktime files and trying them at random. For some reason all of the files on my system drive loaded into PT no problem, so I tried moving all my quicktime movies to the system drive and now they all work. Ones that were giving me the codec error off a data drive work fine off the system drive.
