Very stable here on Catalina. I Don’t do video work here so I don’t care about video support.

Same experience here. Feels much more stable and quicker overall. Maybe this last version of the decade is a winner

2019.10 has definitely improved performance at low buffers... the correct version of PT 2019 to be running on any PC imo. It's now only 10% behind Logic for VI track count playback at 128 buffer which ties it in second place for the mac performance DAW crown to reaper and way ahead of all others. Logic/Pt-Reaper/then............Cubase-Bitwig then.............................................. ........................everything else.

PT is great software and 2019.10 is awesome. Hopefully 2020 adds some nice midi features, pitch correct and folders. Here's hoping!

There seems to be some misunderstanding about macOS Catalina, Pro Tools 2019.12 and video workflows.

What Avid have done with Pro Tools 2019.12 running on Catalina is to enable MXF wrapped video files to run natively on Catalina with Pro Tools.

This means if you have existing or including projects all you need to do is to convert your QuickTime .mov videos to MXF. You can still use Avid DNxHD codecs, just make sure they are in an MXF wrapper.

There is even a free app Shutter Encoder that can do this. Check out my article With all the details including instructions and a demo video showing how to use Shutter Encoder.

Alternatives include using Non-Lethal Applications Video Slave 4, which would allow users to continue to use QT content with Pro Tools 2019.12 on Catalina.

Just to be clear, the video limitations of 2019.12 apply only to installations on Catalina. I've been importing, exporting, bouncing to QuickTime .mov and .mp4, etc with 2019.12 under Mojave 10.14.6 with no issues.

Overall, 2019.12 Ultimate/HDX seems a bit more responsive and stable at extremely low playback buffers than the already good 2019.10.

I totally agree with Southside music. I literally worked 9 hours on some scoring and mixing, adding a bunch of VI's and live parts. Everything seems very solid here to me. I was happy pretty much with the previous version, but this one is definitely more solid. I am not going to be running Catalina for a while until the video codecs are sorted out along with just having all of my plugins running for sure at 64 bit.

BTW, I am STILL seeing, although not as much, this issue when I playback a highlighted section in the timeline of an audio clip I get an error message that says that the video stopped or something.. A fix I found was to put Protools into a few seconds of Post Roll. Then it does not happen. It still seems to happen, but only happened after a few hours of working now.
