Default iLok says "Software component unavailable"

Ilok says Software component unavailable. I can't use anything on my Ilok including PT12 because of this. Frustrated.

I've gotten this before when I have something else open (YouTube, Media Player, etc.) that has control of my sound card and is preventing ProTools from taking it over. Close any programs that may be holding your sound card hostage and try again.

Are you on Windows? Try this:

To check for this problem*go to Administrative Tools/Services/ and see if "Pace License Services"*status is *"running".
If not running then that is the problem.
The quick fix is to double click or right click and select Properties then change "Startup Type" from "Automatic" to "Automatic (Delayed Startup)". This causes the Pace service to wait a while before running.

Did you try just starting it? I think there's an option for that in the same menu.

Or how about just rebooting the PC? This happens on my PC after it's been left on for a few days.

Yes, the PC still needs to be rebooted for that to work, although in my personal case what works is to change it to delayed, reboot, then changing it back to regular start and reboot again. Once I ended up creating a direct access in my desktop.

Now, go into device manager and disable USB power management.
