PT 12.6 Windows 7 AAE error -9178 solved
Hi all,
Just wanted to document a problem that I had and finally resolved. Maybe it'll help someone. I run PT 12.6 on Windows 7 and had been getting "AAE error -9178 was encountered." when launching PT. I noticed it would hang on Guitar Rig 5 every time. I used windows program manager to uninstall Guitar Rig 5, but it still kept showing up and crashing despite trashing PT preferences. Well, I deleted the AAX plugin file in the following directories and its launching again. Thanks the gods! C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins

You can also create an "unused plugins" folder in the same directories and place any problematic plugins there.
