Tab To MIDI Notes Totally Dead in 12.8.2?

So, I paid the reinstatement fee to get back from 12.4HD to 12.8.2HD only to find that tab to MIDI notes is totally dead now in the latest version? I mean, it's been steadily getting worse in all the versions, but now I can't even do it all...

If there's a setting to fix this, can someone please kindly let me know what it is? I'd love for it to behave the way it did in PT10HD...

Hi Sig, it is working here in 12.8.2.106 Non-HD .. working here in Midi Editor and in the Edit window ... can you be more specific on how it is NOT working for you ?? happy to help

Tab to transient is probably shut off in your toolbar

Tab to Transient is not turned off...if I click the MIDI note, I hear my sample...I used to be able to tab to MIDI notes and it would play. The little MIDI to Speaker icon is lit too, as it's supposed to be.

I can't even tab to select them so that I can use nudge values to slip them a few ms ahead or behind...why did this change?

What else is turned off that I'm missing here?

Sometimes you have to consolidate the midi clip and make a fresh clip and it will work again.

Yes, I know this trick very, very well...however, I tried that and still no go...

Tabbing to MIDI notes jumps to the beginning of each note, but no longer selects it...and that's the reason the note isn't getting played. This was working fine in 12.5HD before we did the reinstatement thing...did I just pay a grand USD to have the software work worse than before?

Also, when I'm editing drums and I cut 2 regions and try to quantize them to the grid, only the first region now snaps...the second one has to be manually snapped too. Not every time...just sometimes...that has NEVER happened before either, and I do this a lot...

I did say I would get myself to the end of 12HD, and then I'd likely be out because I'm certain 13HD will not include, or will force us to surrender our 10HD license. With these bugs in existence at 12.8 at what I think is the near end of the 12 software cycle, I can say with certainty that my plan to stop supporting AVID from this point forth is the right path.

Shame, after a 20 year run I've seen a lot happen to this company and software, but nothing works how it used to anymore and I find myself struggling more and more just to get projects done in any new version.

If you want the midi note to play, use the right and left arrow instead of tab. The arrows are now used specifically for midi to select the next or previous note, making it versatile for midi, and it will play the note.

What do you mean "no one"?? I told you didn't I ?
You did not specify you wanted the notes to "play" until later in your posts. That is when I told you the difference. It will still "tab" to the next note as you originally asked. The note selection otherwise works differently (and works as it should have all along) now using the arrows and modifiers.

It is part of the midi package added to 12.8.2. With every new release, they have "Whats new in Pro Tools x.x" documentation where this is all gone over.

Tab to Midi notes ALWAYS implied that they were selected, which in turn meant they were being played. This has been going on since version 8...

I don't love this new addition, but at least it works.
