Default melodyne and data to midi for drum replacement?

Anyone know if you can use Melodyne to do data to midi for drums and how accurate it is? Looking for something to replace Massey and ideally keep it all still inside pro tools rather than having to go outside pro tools with Drumtracker... I wanna trigger other software with midi but have it follow velocity and such....

Hi,

Melodyne does it, but its fiddly and you have to use the studio standalone version not the plugin.

Looking to replace Massey? do you mean DTM? you have the best audio to midi converter there, why do you want to replace it?

Chris

melodyne is sketchy for drum replacement like that...especially midi....lot of drift...........Massey is numero uno in my book.......like dude said...you need the standalone version........

Melodyne is, for sure, drifty in the timing department. It's great for tuning voices but never puts the final fix back into P Tools exactly where it originally sat. With vocals it's really not noticeable but with anything percussion related, especially a drum sample that has to line up with the original sound, it is way too inaccurate.

Also, what's wrong with DTM and why would you want to replace it? It's already dead on.

Yah, you're right, circumstances have made it a bit exclusive at this point. The new version is apparently in the pipeline though. It just remains to be seen what the specifics of the product the timeline of availability are.

The only other software that can do this is, as you mentioned, Drumtracker and it does it very well. If you had DTM you'd have to go outside of P Tools the same way you would with Drumtracker which pretty much makes it the closest alternative.
