Default rewind!!

This might sound stupid, but it there anyway in PT7 or on a ProControl to make the rewind button lock down? Example: I wasn the trasport to functionmore like an analog deck in that I want to hit rewind and it will go till it hits the beginning of the tune.

Thanks

Well if you hit the "Return" key it will bring you to the top of your session.

Keith I appreciate that advice, but I an interested in the time it would have taken to rewind. Its about 30 sec form tail to top on a 3:30 song. When I used to mix externally I had to wait the 30 sec and I would totally relax since there was no button 2 hold or anything. I am finding that on long term mixing projects (2 weeks or more with no days off) I am getting burnt out faster than I used to. I would just hold the Pro Control rewind button down but that is not the same, it doesnt allow my brain to disingage.

So like I said... looking for advice on how to make the transport act more like an ANALOG trasport.

Matt

No, there's not. There's really no rational reason to make a non-linear system like Pro Tools slow down to the shuttling speeds of a linear tape machine. If all you're looking for is an excuse to rest for 30 seconds between passes, why not just slow down yourself? I know exactly what you're talking about with the ear-burn from having no periods of time to just relax, but I also know that I can get as much work done on a mix or overdub in 3 hours as I could in 8-10 hours in the linear days.

I agree it 90% of the time I an glad that I am in a non-liniar system.. strike that.... VERY Glad.

BUT

This is the only thing.. If I just slow down or Stop then Im just sitting ther wondering how long till I hit play again. To me, this does not have the same effect of the rewind time. I was looping an extra 30 seconds at the end of the song and that worked well, but I miss hitting rewind. IMHO mixing ITB is much more of a thinking mans persuit, where the desk was more creative. That 30 sec or relax time really goes a long way.

YMMV

Yes, there is.

Hold down the Rewind button and tap the FF button. Your Rewind shuttle will be locked. Do the opposite to latch FF.

I like to add 30 seconds to the end, been doing that for years.

If you want to hit rewind and have 30 seconds to chill, then just add 30 seconds to the start of the session and while in play, hit return to top and you'll have 30 seconds before any audio plays.... hope that helps.
