Default MIDI mapping in PT

Cheers all..

I have a question I was hoping some of you could help answer-

over the past few months I've been using DigiReWire (w/reason's NN19 sampler ) to trigger sounds in my PT sessions..
I was wondering if there was anyway to simply map my desired audio/midi notes across my MIDI controller IN ProTools, without needing to open a 2nd or 3rd party program?

I've had no problems getting PT to recognize my midi controller, so I assumed there might be a way to create my own 'patch' using just PT

I'm running M-Powered, btw...

well, for starters, I've never heard of a 2nd party program. secondly the midi notes are already mapped across your MIDI controller in PT.

You are asking for sampler functionality, protools isn't an instrument, it's a sequencer/DAW. It can host instruments (like samplers). You would be able to do this in live, but you would loose regular functionality of your keyboard controller.

word.

i understand it's not an instrument, i was just trying to avoid having to rewire other programs just to use MIDI/my keyboard..
mainly to save system resources, and avoid reason crashing on me which happens far too often.

thanks for your response

what we need here....is more sampler

it's weird that you say reason is crashing on you because it's been the most stable audio program I've ever used. maybe trash prefs and repair permissions? In any case, there are quite a few options for a softsampler from NI (yuck) to MOTU's mach 5. Personally I like NN-XT...reminds me of my old S-1000

C'MON DIGI! CLEAN THE WAX OUT!
