confused about omni inputs!

If you set the optical to adat, then you can use either AES or Spidf coax in addition to the adat. If you set the optical to Spidf, then you lose the adat functionality.

....ok.....I think I found my "problem".....

I have connected a PC soundcard using optical toslink cable (lightpipe) to my Avid OMNI.

Everythings works OK - but I now realize that I have connected an optical (S/PDIF) and not an optical ADAT to my OMNI.

Correct me if I am wrong but...there are two types of optical signals:

- ADAT Optical (toslink)
- Optical (S/PDIF) (toslink)

It seems like I am using the Optical (S/PDIF)
...and when I tried to combine Optical (S/PDIF) and AES/EBU I am not allowed to do that.

So now I am reading the HD Omni user guide...page 13
