ReWire Separate Reaper VI's into Pro Tools 10
Total newbie to Reaper. I've searched and searched and can't seem to find an answer to the question about how to get individual VI's, that are being hosted in Reaper, to show up as separate ReWire channels in Pro Tools. It's maybe something totally obvious that I'm missing. Maybe someone here know's what it is? Thanks in advance.

OK so, no one. Wow, I guess that the present state of the ever changing modern world of recording is peopled by folks who are pretty much too busy to be bothered by checking out forums like this. Oh well, back to another hundredth stab at Google.

Re: ReWire Separate Reaper VI's into Pro Tools 10
In reaper you have to set the output of the vi's to rewire output and the corresponding channel (also mono or stereo)
Then in pt set up aux inputs w reaper rewire inserted and the matching channels to the rewire output you set on the vi's. Once you get it you will kick yourself for missing the simplicity. If you don't know, check the reaper manual or whatever to learn how to change the channel outputs. There are some variables on this: If your using a multi output vi like bfd 2, I have to set that up first so each kit piece is accessible on the mixer in reaper and then able to set the output of each kit piece channel into a rewire channel. If its just a stereo output vi it is simpler. I don't look in the Mac forums much. These unisex computer questions would get answered quicker in the general discussions.

Re: ReWire Separate Reaper VI's into Pro Tools 10
Hey guitardom, thanks for the reply. Yah, I've got all of that going but the seperate Rewire outputs are not responding correctly in Reaper. I'm going to re read the Reaper manual but Reaper is not exactly living up to the reputation of being simpler and more intuitive to use than other DAW's. I'm sure that it's some little thing that I'm missing about Reaper though. I do the same thing all of the time with VE Pro and Plogue Bidule with no problems. I just can't get the Arturia Jupiter 8V to work correctly in P Tools or the other VI hosts but, oddly enough, it works perfectly fine in Reaper. I'll keep working on the slightly confounding routing aspect though.

Re: ReWire Separate Reaper VI's into Pro Tools 10
I find reaper confusing as well and use it only when I have to for vi hosting. I setup a template in reaper for bfd2 so I can quickly do it when needed and have all the kit pieces as individual outputs. If I get time I will take some screen shots. But you can quickly do multiple outputs on a track. I deleted the main outputs so they don't go to the master output of reaper and assigned them to the rewire outputs.

That's a good idea. I'll try that. Did you delete the master fader itself?

No I left the master fader. Just deleted all the routing to it and routed everything to the rewire outputs.

Re: ReWire Separate Reaper VI's into Pro Tools 10
Also, one confusing Reaper thing is the recieve aspect of the io page. I just want to recieve a specific midi channel but it lists the first instance of Jupiter 8V as a recieve option. What is that supposed to be about? I don't want to recieve the audio from the other VI, I just need to assign a specific midi channel.
I hate feeling this stupid. Ha |
