The problem is, you need a file. If you want it, you can email me at [email protected]

(1) Navigate to /Users/(current username)/Library/Preferences and delete com.airmusictech.Mini Grand.plist
(2) RESTART the computer (important)
(3) take the zipped .plist attached to this email, unzip it, and put it into /Users/(current username)/Library/Preferences
(4) RESTART the computer again (important)
(5) Launch Pro Tools and test

(if Mini Grand states it can't find the .big file and you have to manually point to the location then the .plist will get modified and the fix will not work).
Thanks. The same edit works for Structure Free. NOT the same file, but the edit to the Variant entry.

Unlike the other workarounds that have been posted this one stays even if you reboot.

Thanks again

Didn't realize I could..Sorry! Wouldn't let me upload with correct name. Rename it back to com.airmusictech.Mini Grand.plist.

Default Re: Mini Grand and Structure still a NO GO

Well, It seems to be fixed! Long story short, I have BOTH Mini Grand AND Structure working!

I requested and received the modified com.airmusictech.Mini Grand.plist file from a member on the Air Instruments forum, followed the instructions and it fixed Mini Grand. So I decided to edit a fresh copy of the com.airmusictech.Structure.plist file using the same two key replacements from the Mini Grand plist file but it would not work for Structure.

I decided to forget about Structure for now. At this point I had one MacMini working with OS X Sierra 10.12.1 and Pro Tools 12.5.2 and my MacBook Pro on Sierra 10.5.1 with Pro Tools 12.6.1, both working great and Mini Grand now working.

Here comes the update for Sierra 10.12.2 so why not? I updated my MacBook Pro to OS X 10.12.2 and all still seemed OK so I tried a fresh modified copy of com.airmusictech.Structure.plist and Bam! now Structure is working properly.

So then I updated my Mac Mini to Pro Tools 12.6.1, tested Structure, failure! Then I updated the same Mac Mini to Sierra 10.12.2 and again I got Structure working on that machine too.

So, in summary it took me upgrading both machines to the latest Pro Tools 12.6.1 and latest OS X Sierra 10.12.2 to fix them both. But I still needed to use a fresh modified copy of the file com.airmusictech.Structure.plist because the current one was trashed and had the messed up permissions.

Hope this others as it did for me.

Yup, it is the @Variant key in the .plist of both Mini Grand and Structure Free.

Simply deleting those keys in each file will allow the instrument to operate correctly until you quit Pro Tools and or reboot. When you do, those keys get written back in.

I looked at the file from Avid that was shared by @jwilkers, and found that the @Variant key had been left in but edited to something that allows normal operation.

I simply used the same @Variant value and edited the Structure.plist keys to match.

Everything works as it is supposed now.

Pro Tools 12.6.1 Sierra 10.12.2

Now I'm a recent Mac convert (about 18 months now) so I have no idea why this works, but work it does.

It's working here. PT 12.6.1 on Win7.

Any note played in Mini Grand is a short stab, no sustain. Same thing for Structure Free.

Played with a keyboard, OR just drawn in with pencil. No difference. No sustain.

Anyone else?

Default Re: Mini Grand and Structure still a NO GO

I've found out after further testing on my updated Macs, that you no longer need a modified com.airmusictech.Mini Grand.plist file or a modified com.airmusictech.Structure.plist file to make them both work correctly as they should.

Now, both my MacBook Pro and my Mac Mini are updated to the latest OS X Sierra 10.12.2 (recently released) and the latest Pro Tools 12.6.1. This is what, without a doubt, definitely fixed it for me. Nothing else worked correctly or 100%.

Now the plugins no longer write to the Mini Grand and Structure plists files at all. They remain intact as installed, just like the Boom and XPand!2 plists files meaning that the plists files now only have information in them which points to the .Big files or where the patch information is and all of the features of the plugins work correctly!

My Procedure:

(1) Updated to Pro Tools 12.6.1, and verified that Pro tools worked as before with 12.5.2.
(2) Installed the OS X Sierra 10.12.2 update (from App Store - Not Combo Update) Verified everything still worked correctly.
(3) Deleted both com.airmusictech.Mini Grand.plist and com.airmusictech.Structure.plist from /Users/(current user)/Library/Preferences/ folder.
(4) Rebooted computer.
(5) Ran "First_AIR_Instruments_Bundle_12.0_Mac.dmg" downloaded from my Avid account so that it could cleanly install Mini Grand and Structure plugins and plists again. (did not install the effects bundle)
(6) Verified all is working correctly! No more plist writing or problems no more file permissions changing. Both Mini Grand and Structure work correctly.

I don't know if this will work for others but it did for me and no patched plist work-a-rounds.

*** UPDATE ***

Had to put the two modified plists back on my Mac Mini for correct operation of both Mini Grand and Structure! So Mac Mini is using a modified plisst but the MacBook Pro is not, it's using stock unmodified plists for both plugins. Both machines are OS X Sierra 10.12.2 and both are Pro Tools 12.6.1.

Both machines work correctly for Pro Tools in all other respects and all of my Air Virtual Instruments work properly.

Strange
