Working with just the ICON fader unit.
What would happen if you only connect the faderunit to protools?
Would you still be able to control faders and using the encoders for plug-ins, sends e.t.c.?

You can't - PT software wont allow just a fader unit - must have a main online also.

There was a way to do it with a Procontrol Fader pack .You had to disconnect the fader meter and protools would recognize it as a main unit.
Never tried it myself.
