trashing prefs deletes song in progress?
I am a former PT's 9er and have always trashed preferences manually. Now I'm on 12 with Win 10, 64bit. I trashed prefs the new way,(from the desktop icon), once successfully but I don't remember if I had a song in progress at that time. Yesterday I was in the process of recording a new song and needed to trash prefs. I saved and closed the session and executed the trasher option. When I returned and attempted to open the session it had disappeared from the "in progress" tab. Normally To open a session I double click ProTools on the desktop and when it opens there are 3 selection options, in progress is the one I would use to gain access to the song that I saved and closed but it was gone! I'm afraid to trash preferences now. Can someone say how and why his happened? What did I do wrong? Thanks.

Re: trashing prefs deletes song in progress?
Hi Terry, I am not on a current version of PT, but if you saved and closed the session you were working on, it should still be there. Can you find it using file/open session/ and then search through your directories for it?

Re: trashing prefs deletes song in progress?
Trashing Preferences and Databases deletes settings in PT like recent list of sessions and eucon check box in perioherals for example.
Just use the search option like MJS said and you will find it there.

This ^^^^
If you are using the latest Trasher, use it to first Backup your Preferences, the Delete what you need to, Empty the Recycle Bin, Restart, then open Trasher and Restore your Preferences before you open Pro Tools.

Re: trashing prefs deletes song in progress?
What do you mean, "the new way" ?
Are you using my Trasher app or something else? Did you put it on there, or was it on there? What do you mean by "needed to trash the prefs"? That is not something you should need to do except for extreme circumstances. Whenever you delete the preferences, it is going to reset ALL the settings, including recently opened options, so what you saw is correct, there should not be any sessions in "memory" or under "recent". The sessions are sitting wherever you put them on the hard drive though. There is no way that deleting preferences can delete sessions.
