Default Pro Tools 11 and AMD Ryzen CPU's

I am in the process of getting a new Windows 10 Pro 64 bit computer with a Ryzen 1700 3Ghz 8 core processor. Anyone else thinking of doing the same or doing the same thing?

I have been using a 2007 1,1 Mac Pro tower for the last 5 years or so and have now decided to upgrade to a 64 bit system with Windows 10 Pro 64 and Pro Tools 11. Anyone have any advice for optimization with Windows 10? Just trying to get some upfront knowledge of what to expect before I get my new computer.

Nathan,

I am keen to hear how you get on if you do go for it. These chips are serious bang for bucks! Im still rocking ~8 years old Intel Qseries quad core processors (over clocked). Have been thinking of upgrading for agaes.

Please keep us informed.

I've been using a 1,1 Mac Pro Intel Xeon quad core for a while now, very stable for what I've been doing but I want to take advantage of the 64 bit processing power of pro tools 11 and I can't do that with what I have. I'm not gonna pay close to 1000$ for an older loaded Mac Pro tower, so my bro convinced me to go windows again and hop onboard the AMD Ryzen train.

I'm anxious now that the last piece to my voltron (Asus X370 pro mobo) computer shipped and it will finally get assembled together with a Ryzen 1700 CPU (not over clocked yet), the fastest 500Gb ssd drive, 16gb of 3200Mhz g-skrillz ram, a fully modular gold rated power supply, and a few other goodies he's throwing in for free with the fam discount. Hope to get the bugs worked out of it shortly after I get it, fingers crossed. I will let you know how goes it.

Bench test of my Ryzen 1700 computer. I'm still waiting to get it so I can run PT11, but so far...😊👍

I don't think that's a very flattering score.

I will run a test on mine later today and let you know what I find.

How much was your CPU?

I have some PT tests we can use to roughly confirm benchmarks between systems. I finished and video a couple weeks ago that should get put up on our site here pretty soon.

I'll be interested to know if it works with PT 10 as well as 11, since I'm using both... Thanks to the AVID refusal to release a Control/24 patch for anything after 10. But either way, anxious to hear the results of testing.
