Have you noticed how many plug-ins listed in Digidesign's online software catalog are featured with its new OS X Aqua interface?

Yeah, what's with that?
They only updated the menu strip of the plug in box.
Well, as long as they are ready for X...
Also, I noticed some new faces around the catalog.

Does anyone know how Direct-Connect will work in OS X. I was looking at the new Native Instruments stuff, and CoreAudio, ASIO (both for stand-alone usage) AudioUnits, and VST (both plug-ins) are listed as output options. I'm concerned because I rely pretty heavily on my software samler and I need to have that kind of software if I move to PT 6.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it works in the same way as it is working now... take Reaktor 4. It supports CoreAudio like PT 6, so maybe there won't be problems there. What I want to know is how we are gonna get an equivalent to the IAC buses in OMs under CoreMIDI. Maybe Rewire 2 will be a partial solution to this since most apps that need to be synchronized with each other will support it.

Just from a quick glance at the CoreMIDI developer's kit from Apple, it would appear that an application can create a "virtual" MIDI interface that any other application using CoreMIDI would be able to see and interact with. I think in practice, this will have applications working the way Battery or Logic Audio do in OMS, by software synths creating their own MIDI interfaces. Maybe that's just wishful thinking.

I use MAX/MSP package for developing apps and pluggos. I've already did some tests in Jag with MAX beta . My app midi i/o APPEARS in Reason demo midi setup without problems. Seems that ther's no need for IAC buses. Cycling74 announced also DC support - so there must be one in PT6.
