Default How/why choose?

I'm new to PT LE, and I'm very pleased with the results I'm achieving on my work. BUT the more I read these posts, and then poke around on the net, the more I'm faced with this question: Are you all JUST using PT or are you using MOTU stuff as well? How are you 'organizing' your DAW if you use these?
And the big one: What's 'wrong' with the MOTU stuff if it's supposed to be good, damn affordable, yet I don't get the impression that it's being used on the professional level?

To know all about PT vs DP, do a search on the DUC; this has been discussed many times. Maybe someone will take the time to explain this all over again; I won't...
Sorry...

Thanks for the reply. I'm not interested in the software comparatives. I am interested in the features of the hardware, and how some PT users may be combining them. I'll do the search, thanks for letting me know

Actually I also meant "if you're interested in DIGI vs MOTU" (001vs2408,...). Lots of posts in the past (woww, almost writing poetry there...).

All of the major software packages are being used at the pro level by many users. To a certain degree, it's a little like the Ford vs Chevy argument - meaningless and totally a matter of preference.

As far as hardware goes, many people are using DP or Logic with Digi's TDM hardware in professional situations. They've been doing that for years. The newer non-Digi "pro" hardware such as the MOTU 1296 hasn't really been out long enough (shipping, that is) for many pro's to comment on it. I'm just now beginning to hear of some pro's using Nuendo with the Nuendo hardware.

I guess there is no drastic difference between the hardwares at the particular price range. It's the software that makes the true difference. Pro Tools is more common at pro studios than for example DP, so you can track with Pro Tools LE or FREE at your home and then continue elsewhere with TDM etc...(DP 3's so-called Pro Tools compatability is a bluff. You will need Digitranslator, which does not work with PT 5.1 session format and OMF anyway does not deliver other data besides region placement, crossfades and volume automation.)

Concerning Digital Performer, consider this : at this stage, it still has no edit groups! How the h*ck would one edit multitrack drums, for instance...???
