Commands wishlist for video games workflow.
Hello there.
Allowing script sounds like a huge step to improve our workflow for video games production. Unfortunately, we are missing some commands to start evaluating a custom workflow with it. The biggest one, is definitely about naming! We often have to deal with hundreds of clips that need specific names. -Rename selected clips from: Markers preceding the clip) Selection markers in the time range selected) Element from another track (clip, group, midi,…) in the time range selected Then some other commands that will help us a lot: -Commit: Auto commit specific track(s)/Bus with predefined settings -Create Markers (and selection markers) with specific names from: Clips on a track: getting positions and names Text file: positions and names -Embed metadatas in bwf clips from: Session metadatas Custom datas Text file -Export: At multiple locations at the same time Will these options, or some of them be planned to be added in a near future? Thanks, Charlie Atanasyan. Pro tools user since 2003 Working in video games industry. |

Re: Commands wishlist for video games workflow.
Hi Charlie,
Sorry for the delay here. We're thrilled to hear that you're eager to evaluate the SDK for some custom video games production workflows. For the next Pro Tools Scripting SDK release we're planning to add a support for a basic Clip Rename (no markers involved). However, for the other commands you mentioned, none is currently planned but we'll make sure to evaluate them. Would you be able provide more details on the needs for Export? Quote:

Hello Dmytro.
Thanks for your reply. I would like to have the ability to export the same file, multiple times to different locations at once. |

Re: Commands wishlist for video games workflow.
Bigger companies like Ubisoft, might have different needs then yours. Exposing those needs are a very good thing, please don't discourage people from doing so.

Re: Commands wishlist for video games workflow.
Being able to bounce multiple sections of the timeline would be a huge boon for film production workflows as well, since we often have to bounce reels. Being able to queue up 6 sections of the timeline to bounce would allow many mix assistants to each their lunch in one go instead of in 6 small portions.
As a workflow suggestion, the sections could be indicated by markers and markers could be selected for export. Edit: just built the latest version and this seems possible to implement now. |

Re: Commands wishlist for video games workflow.
It can be done now mostly, though something I've been needing is more documentation of the video bounce options.
