Mbox 3 line inputs not true

I'm a bit concerned about the Line inputs on the Mbox 3 ( not pro)

I am connecting a mic pre to the unit but there is no way to get the inputs to a proper line level. How does it work? Is the unit not capable?

You need to be more specific here. What cable are you using? Is the Mbox GAIN knob turned all the way down? Does the external preamp have an output level control? Are you versed in how/why the MIX knob works?

Looking at the block diagrams , the mbox3 line ins still run through the preamps, will this work? Mabe, the pro is routed different.

Correct, on the Mbox 3 Pro, the line inputs are completely separate, but not on the regular Mbox 3.
