Default Frequent 9171 since adding OWC Accelsior 4M2 drives to HDX

Hi all-

I solved my previous disk trouble by retiring the old Glyph drive and adding an Accelsior 4M2 NVME system. However, now I am getting frequent 9171 errors, not CPU overload but "CPU conflict." They occur with no plugins running (either native or DSP), but they do appear more to be frequent when recording

I am using the default SoftRAID configuration provided.

I am also considering finally updating to Catalina if I can confirm that my preferred video workflow is now available. Might that make a difference for these errors?

macOS Mojave 10.14.6
Mac Pro 2013 (the "trash can")
Sonnet Echo Express III TB2
Avid HDX PCIe card (slot 1)
OWC Accelsior 4M2 (slot 3)
Pro Tools 2021.3

If it helps in your trouble-shooting, I've got that same OWC card running on a slightly different config w/o getting any 9171's. Originally in Raid0 & now in JBOD.

Used both Mojave & now on Catalina w/o any issues.

Also, I used your exact setup (obviously no PTU 2021.3) for several years with a pair of 500GB 2.5" Samsung 840 Pro SSDs on Sonnet's "Tempo SSD" card w/o experiencing any 9171's.
They still make that card (I think it's called the "dual fusion" or some such), as an option for SSD storage if the OWC doesn't work out.

4 drives - Aura P12 480GB - striped as a single logical drive.

Thanks for the replies. Definitely, some interesting experiments to try here.

1) A second Thunderbolt 2 enclosure for the existing OWC card + drives
2) Screw it and get an extra-large boot drive (original 250GB fills up quickly so would want to max out)
3) Try the Sonnet card in the existing chassis

None of these is cheap (though all are cheaper than a new non-trashcan mac pro). Let me weigh the possibilities, but in the meantime, I welcome other thoughts and suggestions.

Just to throw in another variable. When I had a Trashcan with HDX in a TB2 chassis I was using Black Magic Multidocks (the second version) for storage. Not as fast the OWC card but super reliable and reasonably speedy if SSDs were configured in RAID 0.

Further to my last post... There are 6 TB2 ports on the trashcan but only three busses and the first one is shared with the HDMI port. It’s best not to have the TB2 chassis connected to bus 0 because this is the one shared with HDMI.

I own the 4M2 and have no issues, that being said, OWC has a beta driver v6 you may want to download, also if you are using an OS other than Big Sur, make sure you have the latest drivers from OWC
These are just idea's in case you haven't updated the drivers
Cheers

No I am not , I’m native with a Thunderbolt interface

Good point. The chassis is on bus 1 and HDMI on 0.
