Default Displaying Arp. Patterns?

Greetings All

Can Pro Tools (MIDI) display Arpeggio Patterns recorded from an external MIDI device?

Are you recording MIDI (or importing MIDI files) into Pro Tools? If so, the MIDI notes should be dsiplayed on your MIDI Tracks.

Hi Jeff

Recording MIDI, the MIDI device being used is not capable of Exporting Arpeggio Patterns, the MIDI note is being displayed, say a C note containing the Arpeggio Pattern or triggering the MIDI device to play the Arpeggio, but not the display of the Arpeggio Pattern itself. The MIDI device is capable of sending this information, I'm just wondering if Pro Tools is capable of receiving this information and displaying the Arpeggio Pattern.

It would really be up to the device. If it's something like a keyboard with an internal arpeggiator, then it likely would not play the arpeggiated notes out. What device are you using?

Roland V-Synth XT (OS version 2.02). 'Remote KBD Switch' is enabled (Mode>System>Controller>KBD).

Thanks Jeff for taking the time to help out, greatly appreciated.

I checked out the V-Synth XT manual, and it looks like it's just an internal function. You could use Pro Tools to 'trigger' the arpeggiator (instead of using a MIDI keyboard) or you could record the audio output of the V-Synth XT into PT.

Hi Jeff

My reputable source, assures me that the device is quite capable of performimg this task and in fact says that "all the Arpeggiator does is send MIDI note on and off messages (as well as CC messages if you so desire). Just about any sequencer can display this information if recorded."

'Remote KBD Switch' as far as I can work out, needs to be toggled, for communication purposes with Pro Tools and disabling communication with the Arpeggiator during Playback.
