That's in S3 Live mode when S3 operates Venue software. I don't think it's there in Studio mode.

Hey Guys,

The S3 touchstrip is mapped to RW, FF, Play/Sop, Rec via the 4 zones.

S3 does have soft keys. There just isn't an editor in EuControl to create your own yet.

Those soft keys are not too handy for mem locs. They're far more functional imo for automation, although obviously it would be very convenient if you could alter the colors.

For mem locs, I'm puzzled why Avid didn't implement it the way it was in the digi003. Just spread them over the LCDs and use the bank switches and encoders to select. It's just so obvious.

The transport controls are a big laugh indeed. I must admit I've added a transport control for that reason, but I guess that's why Avid made them so useless in the first place.

I'm also confused no one at Avid interfered when someone came up with the idea of putting the selection buttons in between the faders

The S3 is just the S3L repackaged. I'm sure that is why there weren't different transport controls.

With 3.3.2 you can remap almost all the buttons on the left and right of the unit. The Eucon software allows you to map lots of various commands to any of the buttons.
There is a Avid S3 video showing you how to do it, one of the series.
Cheers

The soon-to-be-released Avid Dock looks like a good(albeit pricey) solution
