Default Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program:c:\programFiles\Digidesign\Pro Tools\Protools.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application support team for more information.

Above is the error message I'm constantly getting.
I did research on the tech support and I got two answers so far that hasn't worked.

creating a new user login & running Pro Tools from there corrected the problem. (DOESNT WORK)

In one case, trashing the Digidesign Database folders (found at the root level of all drives), the volumes folder (C:\Program Files\Digidesign\Pro Tools\Databases\Volumes), and deleting the Pro Tools preference files (C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Application Data\Digidesign\Pro Tools v x.x Preferences) corrected the problem. (DOESN"T WORK)

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

I have a a built P.C using 6.4 Pro Tools LE with M-Box 1.
I called tech support and they won't help because my 90 day day CSR Support has expired.

Thank you, hope to get some help and fix this issue soon.
My apologies for posting on the MAC forum I'm posted here again because I have Windows XP, PC computer not a MAC.

Thanks!

Could you please describe the steps to reproduce this problem?

Looks like an c++ unhandled exception that is not caught by Protools, so the app quits.

Thanks for replying.

All I did was was close out a session.
The next day I opened up a session lik eusual and that happened
the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime.

That's the only thing I did.

Thanks.

Were you using any plugins in this session? If so which ones? Have you installed any new software recently?

Also, you mention you were using 6.4. Have you also installed the 6.4cs9 program update and the 6.4cs6 plugin update? They are both bugfix updates, and while I don't think they relate to your particular situation, it is always best to rule out the obvious.

Try removing all wrapped plug-ins first.

Only insert I had was a limiter on the vocals and no I didn't install any new software. I'll try these out thanks.
And I'll look into the plug ins in depth.
BTW if you'd like visit my site

www.flow.shadow-al.com and hear some of the music we've done.

Take care.

You don't need to have a plug-in instantiated for it to cause a problem.. just having a bad wrapped plug-in loaded can cause this to happen.

I'm having the exact same problem. Did nothing strange. Just came in yesterday and ProTools would not boot up. Kept getting the "terminate in an unusal way" message. I tried the two recommendations on Digidesign's website and neither of those helped. I've also tried uninstalling ALL of my M-Audio and ProTools software including any plug-ins, running virus scan, spyware scan, defragging my drive and then reinstalling the software, and I still got the same error.

Any ideas? I'm so frustrated!

Thanks!
