Locking automation to the grid?
Hi, there has got to be a simple solution to this. I am preparing a film score in Pro Tools where there are multiple sections of music at different tempos throughout the session which all have automation written within them. When I change the tempo of one section, to say, a faster tempo, the grid compresses of course, but the automation stays where it was written under the time line and is no longer underneath where it should be within the music - for all of the automation written from the point of the tempo change through the end of the session. Please tell me there is some sort of "lock the automation to the grid" option instead of it only locking to the time line. Thanks in advance!

Re: Locking automation to the grid?
Have you looked thru the Preferences pages? I seem to remember something in there, but I am away from the studio today.

Re: Locking automation to the grid?
This touches on the weaker parts of my Protools powers, but I'm prettey shure your solution lies with the track being in "ticks" or "samples" mode. I'd try to switch the track to "ticks" (the little metronome sign on the track), I think then, when you change tempo, the automation, as well as meter changes and other tings will follow.

Re: Locking automation to the grid?
Well I tried it, and it behaved like I expected.
I pasted some audio regions on a track, wrote some volume automation to it, inserted a tempo change, nothing happened. I changed the track from samples based to ticks based, inserted the tempo change and everything after it moved with the grid, including the automation. Beware, the regions move also. The start of the region stays with the grid. But, of course, the audio itself is unaltered, so things will get messed up depending on the type of material.
