Restoring DATa to mix hardware??
I've just run across some 10-year old DATa backups I made and I'd really like to rescue them from the archive.
Is there a version of DATa that works with the Mix-era hardware? -dg |

Re: Restoring DATa to mix hardware??
I've still got a Sound Tools 1 rig set up for this purpose... if you need them done I could transfer them for a reasonable fee.
Good luck, Jeff D. |

It is with trepidation that I step on the answer of a Digidesign person, but it can be done on a Mix system ... if you have a vintage farm card installed. i know - I've done it

Re: Restoring DATa to mix hardware??
As far as i remember, (it was some months ago0 I just booted up DATa and it ran as it always used to on my Nubus system - reads from DAT, writes to disk. i believe I got the hint from an old post on this site. one thing - i would still have been using DAE 5.0 at the time, in case that makes a difference

Re: Restoring DATa to mix hardware??
Okay--trying to kludge my way through this. Still no luck.
On this system, I've got a Mix+ rig with a vintage DSP farm. I've connected the 888/24 to the vintage farm, but I can't get through the hardware setup dialog. It shows the little i/o thing next to the DSP farm when selecting what i/o is connected where, but . . if I try to set that to 888/24 and press <ok> it just cycles me back around to the "you need to chose an audio interface" dialog. Anyone have any further tips? I'm just about too paranoid to try and install an old version of DAE, but is that what's going to do it? -dave |

Re: Restoring DATa to mix hardware??
Hey,
Like i say, i think i would have been using 5.0. it's a little bit of a hassle to change over, but not too much. In the system folder, take the Digi system init, stream manager and dsp manager out of the extensions folder, and the DAE out of the DAE folder and put them in a safe place. then download the 5.0 stuff, which i think does not include as many files, and install them in the same places. Then trash the digisetup and the DAE prefs file from the prefs folder. Also, i do have an older 16 bit 888 attached to my vintage farm, so that my make a difference. If i have time tommorrow, i'll do a test run to make sure I haven't been dreaming this all up!! Malcolm |
