Importing video, audio is incomplete & half speed

I'm experiencing a weird combination of issues:

I imported an mp4 video to PT10 and the image is fine but the audio is at about half the speed and it's incomplete. The video is 2min long and PT is importing 2min worth of audio but because the audio is at half the speed it only imports half the audio track. The following is an attempt to illustrate the problem:

What is happening: video is normal but audio is at half speed so only half of the audio track is being imported and the rest is deleted.

So I attempted to import the audio only. When I looked at the source sample rate in the import window it was 22050. So I adjusted it to 48k and completed the import. This time the audio was apparently at the correct speed, however it was still only half of the entire audio track (1min). It's as if the track had been cut in half and the second half had been deleted.

I do this operation regularly and in 10 years this is the first time I've encountered this issue.

Thoughts... solutions... ideas... anybody...????? HELP...!!!!

Use mpeg streamclip to either convert the video to another format or export the audio so you can import it separately from the video.
